Happy [belated] Thanksgiving! Gah, I always get those holidays delayed. Anyways, I had the day off which meant that I did some errands, worked online, etc. We had a quiet dinner.

I was also given the next day, that Friday, off from work. I took that day to put up all the Christmas decorations at Mom's house. Yea, it is THAT big of a feat. Most of that got done then. Saturday was at the house downtown. Edwing [contractor] and some of his guys were there. Ditto for Sunday.

Monday was back to work. Same deal. Same headaches. After work, I went to the house to work. I am at the point now where it is all cleaning and doing small things here and there. This format applies for the rest of the week. Saturday [today] it was snowing. Whereas it is beautiful, it is a bit of a headache trying to get things done with/through/around it. I figured I would get some other things done before I would head to the house downtown. With the combination of exhaustion as well as the hazard of other drivers in the snow, I decided to come home early. Yes, I know, I'm going to bed!

Pre - Thanksgiving Nov. 30th, 2009 @ 08:27 am
I was very much impressed with the work which was being done. Hopefully, now, the house will be done... Progress was made throughout the weekend and into Monday and Tuesday. Granted, I am having to pick up some of his guys and drive them back and forth. Luckily, the contractor is sympathetic and is giving me a "bargain basement" price [as in him and his guys are just getting paid - no profit for them]. Over those days, I had to pick up the guys, drive them to Washington, D.C., and drive back to Fairfax to work before 10:00. Then, I would work my day in the office, run up back to Washington, D.C. to pick up the guys and then drop them off at home. Considering the insane traffic of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, it makes for some very long days.

Wednesday, I finished my white paper/"concept paper" for some inter - workings on a company that Ed [Silicon Valley/Wall St. veteran] and I were thinking of starting. He is looking at it and we shall discuss sometime when I have a chance.

That evening, I was invited to a friend's for a pre - Thanksgiving party. It was a dinner party with all the fixings and about 40 or so people. They wanted to go to a nightclub after but I politely declined. I wanted to be up at a reasonable hour for Thanksgiving. Which, incidentally...

Prison. Nov. 26th, 2009 @ 12:11 pm
So...I found out my former contractor, Maurice is now in prison for trying to kill someone. Apparently, he is bi - polar. Uhhh...now, I am out of a bit of money with that - nothing particularly significant. After everything which has been happening, I think I could write a book.

I have since hired a new contractor who I am very impressed with. More with that later... Work has been up and down...ehh...that will probably be the next headache.

"Is it time for the talent portion?" :D

Anyways, I had a long conversation with Ryan. To make a long and complex tale short and sweet, I felt as if he lead me on and I have no longer anything to do with him. He will probably be back - I am sure.

On Tuesday, the new contractor started. This contractor usually goes very large homes in the higher - income suburbs.

The work week was ugh. Last weekend, I spent the whole time working on all my projects including interviewing new contractors. My affair with my old contractor is over - he is prison in Virginia for something horrible as I understand it. He has a temper and so I think he took it out on someone. Luckily, he liked me...to the point he was willing to protect me and my project. Oh well... I think I will write a book about all my experiences in real estate. While taking my car for services, I met Edwing, a contractor.

This also marks month one of my ex - father living with us. He is annoying - he does not help me wrap up the house and is busy helping "friends." Mom refuses to throw him out because he is able to improve quality of life for Steph to a certain degree, but this still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Last week was a relative improvement at work. I also managed to completed a great number of things.

This past weekend, I started by working on the house. That night, I needed to sleep [obviously] so...

I have the day off so I am catching up on everything, including LJ.

Last, last weekend, I had a typical Friday night Halloween weekend. Lance was holding a Halloween party on Friday night. I figured I would go there, hang out, and work on my laptop [with a Halloween movie on] after everyone has left to go to a nightclub or something. That sounded like a good plan until Ryan walked in. Then, noooooooooooo! I had to go out to said nightclub as well. I was also planning to spend the night at Lance's. That sounded like a good idea until someone threw up on the couch on which I was supposed to sleep. Meanwhile, Ryan was coaxing me to spend the night with him. As soon as I noticed the mess, I was like...*sold.*

Random interruption: LJ should have author read entries...like books on tape. Maybe as videos but that is not particularly original either.

Anyways, I got home and the rest of the weekend was spent doing yard work and other things around the house. Fun. Monday was back to work and stress. I am starting to not like my job but I will see how things go with it...

I think the United States needs a national food policy. Increasingly, it is becoming apparent where food and water are becoming the oil of the twenty - first century. A couple of random thoughts in relation to the topic:

1. Why does the American government pay farmers not to grow food when it is such a contested commodity?
2. One valuable economic asset which the U.S. can leverage is its agricultural sector. However, many agrarian industries are increasingly being outsourced. Should money be invested so technology can be best leveraged in this cost/benefit analysis?
3. Should the American government look into the inefficiencies of lean food supply chains to major cities? [Think: Katrina's effect on New Orleans.]

As well, it has been a normal week of work. As well, I have to say, I made another publication!

After a beautiful meal of venison, I dropped Jim off at his hotel and proceeded home. Friday was a normal day at work and I went to Lance's Halloween party that night. After a stressful week I have been having, I figured I would go out and have a bit of fun. I brought my laptop and such so I could get some work done in front of the television when the party quieted down.

Of course, that was not the case. Ryan ended up walking in. To make a long story short, I ended up having to go to Town with him and spending the night with him in Georgetown. Long story with all of this which I will discuss more later.

Saturday, I did a few things of my own and spent the rest of the day doing yard work. Fun. In the evening, I handed out candy. My ex - father took out Steph and Mom was invited to a party in Crystal City [I encouraged her to go since she does not get out of the house much].

Sunday, I had an actual chance to get some work done. I finished a large piece I was writing so now that is out of the way. Monday was back to work...

In addition to the little accident, I ended up being pulled over for random check with the police. This was in Virginia, for all's information. The officer was at least reasonable [unlike the vast majority of chauvinist cops out on the roadways].

Friday, I was back in the office like usual. That evening, Marc broke up with me. I thought "better him saying it than me" but I think we will end up as good friends.

I spent the weekend trying to catch up with things as much as I can but...eh..I will go into detail more later on. That Saturday night was Frankie's birthday party. He is a D.J. at a local sports bar so Jesus and I stopped by, had some food, and spent some time with him and friends.

Monday was back in the office. Throughout the week, I have managed the "ups" and "downs" of the workplace...erm...long story. But I feel as if the reader has noted some of these things from my previous entries. This week, Jim was in town. On Thursday, we went to Cafe Belga in Eastern Market. The chief chef was the former personal chef to the Belgian ambassador. A LOVELY meal...

I am living through a headache right now, but things will improve. Firstly, by the end of week two, my father has been very annoying. Irritant. Hopefully he will drive off a cliff or something.

Thursday and Friday: a particular series of events took place. Marc broke up with me - I needed to break up with him so I am glad he did it. I think we will make for good friends. Then, I went on a date with Ryan. I met Ryan through Lance and many conversations about international relations. That was fun... I went over to the GW campus in Foxhall to pick him up and we had dinner at Nellie's on U Street. It was a really nice evening and Nellie's has a rooftop deck which is quite posh.

From there, I was not thinking and backed into the car parallel parked behind me. It is such a travesty Ryan was so entertaining! Fortunately, there was no damage but the owner was right there and that was an interesting conversation.

Okay, it was a week. I just wish I can concentrate on my stuff and clear out all the other crap.

Firstly, my father is beginning to annoy me. Loathe. For example, he takes time for a snack in the afternoons. No, he doesn't have the right to a snack if he's here. I think he is just starting to be a waste of time. He is a piece of shit, so what?

Monday, I had another theft. Being wrapped up in EVERYTHING, I had forgotten my old contractor had keys to the basement door. I can write it off as a small lost on the sale but headaches nonetheless. My contractor and I got into a fight about this because he is not done. He has been taking almost two weeks off because he has a grandmother in the hospital. I feel for the man but when my grandmother was in the hospital, I was still working during the day. I mean...give me four hours a day or something - I'm sure nothing is going to happen to her in that time period. This is giving me another headache. I do not care if the grandmother is dead - if he is not done by Friday, I am finding someone new.

All week at the day job, I have been swamped. My boss was very impressed with me all of a sudden and my work has been increasingly high reviews. One thing I like about my boss, in particular, is he is very flexible and understanding. With my issue on Monday, he said: anything he could help with, he would love to make my days easier.

Last week was the normal...work is a bit stressful because some of the people I work with treat me like a child. It is normal for this to happen in the Washington, D.C. ecosystem because that is just the way the corporate culture is... Aside, I have other things going on so...whatever...

Friday, I spent the night with Marc to try to salvage our relationship. I did not get anything out of the experience, I mean...in a relationship - building sense. I think I just need to end it but I am not sure how. The rest of the weekend was quiet and I just worked on a few things.

This marks the ending of "week 1" of Dad living with Mom. It looks good ["on paper"] right now but I am trying to maintain that Mom should not become emotionally involved. I know she still has feelings for my father but it is obviously not a good idea.

Monday, back to work again...

After that, we ran into John Oliver from "The Daily Show." We chatted it up a bit, took a few pictures, and went on. From there, I stopped by Ed's to pick up a few things and had a bit of chat with him.

Last on the list, I went to the Virginia house because we were having our Canadian Thanksgiving dinner. It was fun, the normal...

So, Happy Thanksgiving!

I worked Monday because it was a floating holiday - if I work that day, I can take off a different day. Personally, I would rather work on a day where I do not have to deal with the traffic, the stupid people, the meetings, etc.

So yes, Saturday was indeed interesting. Granted, of course, now Dad is being very much supportive of everything but I realise it is just a phase.

Sunday, I rounded up the friends to do the Equality March on Capitol Hill. I thought it was a good cause and I could always use the exercise. We all hopped in a car and parked in front of the White House which is where we joined the march. Something of interest: I ran into Lady Gaga again. She gave me a kiss! <3

I present to you...Gaga )

First of all, the city was almost as busy as it was for Obama's inauguration. Thanks [of course to my old friends] but also to my new friends Ryan and Estefany, I had sooooo much fun...more fun than I had had in a while.

I spent most of Saturday doing errands and catching up on things. It was relatively uneventful until I was in the shower and Mom burst in. My father was moving in. As a tenant. Yes, he will be paying rent and doing chores to earn his board. I, personally think this is a bit outrageous, but it's Mom's decision. Granted, I have an extra pair of hands to help me with the huge pile of work I have.

Dad was living with one of his girlfriends. He came home from work one day to find her house being foreclosed upon and all the furniture, personal belongings, etc. being put on the street. Since he had no place to go, he turned to us. [Un]fortunately [-whichever way one looks at it] he probably will not stay here for very long.

Grandma and Dad always hated each other; to the point of fighting yelling, and a few physical altercations. Looking back, retrospectively, if I thought I heard what I heard, it now makes sense in context.

Monday was back to work, back to the bureaucracy, etc., etc. [I will not say any more.] Aside from the "static" of these days, let us fast forward towards the weekend...

This may sound TOTALLY weird, but let me just put it down and I will explain how things possibly fit in later. When Grandma died about two years ago, that night, my mother and I swore we heard someone crying about 3:00 AM. This was approximately the time she passed. She had a distinct cry so it would not be someone else. Anyways, I was awake around 3:00 AM on Thursday evening and thought I heard it again. I know there must be a rational explanation...maybe some breeze outside or something. However, I could see how it would fit into future events.

This was the uber gay march in Washington, D.C. so everyone who is gay has descended on the environs for this thing. Sean was supposed to stay with me but when he found out he had a boyfriend, he all of a sudden had a friend downtown with a hotel room for him to stay. Hmmm, I see... Anyways, I already made plans to take to Lance's pre - party and then to Town. Apparently, people fly in just to go clubbing at Town on occasion - it is starting to become a bit famous [not on the level but could become like CGBG]. Because of him not staying, Sean was too busy with his friends to stop by or even see me whence we were at Town...

If there is a hell, it is like this... Let us digress for a moment:

[By the way, I am writing this post "under the influence" so I shall not be responsible for what I say. Granted, I am simply a product of my environment so I cannot be held accountable for my actions anyways.]

Saturday was a chance to get a few things done. Sunday, I went to see Jon Jon in "The Game of Love and Chance." It was a great bit... I took Jesus because I did not want to deal with Marc and Jesus seemed a lot more exciting. Marc and I, more or less, have been fighting ever since for various reasons.

I think I need more alcohol in order to deal with all these issues on my plate.

[End.] :P

Last week was eventful which is why I have been neglecting LJ a bit. I had a theft at the Washington, D.C. house - my stove, my refrigerator, and a big leather chair. I, of course, went through the proper measures and also had the police over. Everything will be replaced but I was upset for obvious reasons. The next day, it really sunk in. I wanted Marc to see me, but he was too busy. I addressed this with him later on...more of that in a bit. As far as the house, in general, is concerned, I think I may be "seeing the light at the end of the tunnel..." but more on that later as well.

Friday, I was meeting with Maurice, my contractor at my house when Lance asked me over to his house party. He said "...small party, just friends..." so I figured, after a week like I had, it would be a good idea. After all, on both Thursday and Friday, I did not hear anything from Marc. I met a few interesting people. I said "I'll just stay for a few hours..." Lance had me sit down and brought in dinner. Okay, a few more hours... Then, we were to go to Town [of course *rolls eyes*] and I run into Marc. I, of course, "gave him a piece of my mind."

Honestly, at this moment, I am not sure what to do with him...

It's time for a midnight snack and blog post. On Saturday, I was supposed to take the Females to their bowling thing but that did not happen because I came back too late. I think it was for the best because we had the concert we were supposed to attend that night. Malan was in town so we attended her concert - it was not as good as the other but still great. She played a lot of early twentieth century stuff which was...crap. Any normal person would have the lights dim or off in every section except for the stage [so I could work via my Blackberry during the boring parts] but the event was put on my stupid people so that was not the case. As well, I did not realise that Malan has an extensive Wikipedia page.

Sunday, I finally got the stuff out the door to my business broker. That was supposed to have been out like...Tuesday? >.< That evening, Marc really wanted to see me. I am not exactly "sure" about him but more on that later. Anyways, Frankie was at my house doing a shoot so I stopped by there first. Marc came over, we all chatted, and Marc and I went down to Ben's Chili Bowl for something good, quick, and cheap.

Monday, ugh....well, work is work, what can I say? I also have something going on with the house, but more on that later...

The rest of the week, I spent catching up on everything. I am learning SO much and it all is extremely valuable but it is a bit frustrating at times. However, my boss is very supportive so I am thankful for that.

This weekend, I, along with friends, were supposed to do a nature filled cabin camping trip in West Virginia. The friend whom with I was planning bailed on me last minute so this never materialised. Even though it turned out to be a poor weekend due to the rain, I am still irritated with him. He ended up throwing a small party Friday night - I stayed at home.

Yesterday, I was up early to get to the house. Things are coming along but I will not say anything on pains of jinxing what may happen... From there, I stopped by Ed's because him and his wife were giving me their old grill. They also invited me in for lunch which I had a lot of time to talk to Ed about a few things. I also made the proper phone calls so my money from Bank of America will be in this week and the money from the District will be in next week. Bank of America is starting to redeem themselves in my eye seeing the group director handled the transaction personally and called me on a Saturday night to give me the news....but still...
» Lots and lots of food...
Sunday, I went with Marc to Domku. It was my first breakfast date [albeit we got there at 11 - ish.] More about Marc later. As for the food, I had a Polish breakfast with Italian/Austrian coffee. Exquisite.

Monday was back to work. Everything I am working on at the moment both for my job and outside is bearing down on me and is becoming quite stressful. For example, I FINALLY received that cheque from my employer which took a MONTH to process. Stupidity. My boss let me go to cash it and pay my contractor. Meanwhile, I had to attend a meeting so I did so on speakerphone on my cellular phone while driving 80 MPH down the highway. Ah, fun...[like I need rocks in my head].

Anyways, Tuesday evening, I went to see Jim. He is in town at the moment and so I arranged for us to have dinner with my colleague Ed. We went to Harry's Tap Room in Clarendon which was quite nice. I had a marvelous paella! :) Personally, I am enamored with anything containing chorizo. Ed and Jim talked the whole time and it was great.
